Social media and graph theory

In web 2.0 social graph theory is popular. it converts science and math theories of discovering how everyone is related to each other and how everything is on the web.

As much fun as it is to discuss social graph theory in terms of social networks such as Facebook, there comes a time when the discussion has to move beyond the theoretical stage. There are many companies trying to take the concepts outlined in social graph theory and applying them to CMS or content management systems for web.

I say the future of customer experience on the Web will be defined by how much a website can know or think about a visitor even before they come to the site and then display the most relevant and engaging content possible to them.

More sophisticated approaches to content management and social web are going to take advantage of the capabilities of global positioning systems (GPS) in mobile computing devices and location services.

Some obviously will boast about the implications on privacy due to all this. But if a customer wants a deeper relationship with someone on the web…… the tools needed to make that exp worthwhile are getting better with each passing day.
